Criminological aspects of domestic violence and their impact on the victim Abstract This thesis provides the reader with an insight into the issue of domestic violence and its current forms. Currently, this phenomenon is receiving more and more attention, both from politicians and from non-profit organizations existing to provide assistance to victims. In the light of the above, the aim of this paper was to describe this phenomenon in terms of its impact on victims of domestic violence and the possibilities of using de lege lata to protect them, and then to offer possible solutions to some of the problems with a focus on the future, i.e. de lege ferenda. Krajíčková, Sabina ; Svobodová, Magdaléna (referee)
Domestic violence legislation under European and international law Abstract This dissertation sets out to analyse domestic violence legislation both from an international legal perspective and, above all, from the perspective of relevant European law. By analysing this legislation, we will then evaluate whether the regulations currently in force are sufficient and actually offer effective tools to protect victims of violence. As the victims of domestic violence are mostly women, the first chapter focuses on the issue of violence against women, with particular focus on the specifics of gender-based violence and its manifestations, in particular sexual violence. In doing so, we will analyse how the affirmative consent principle is applied, as well as examining the matter of sex-based killings (femicide). For this purpose, this dissertation will pick up on the results of a data survey on violence against women in individual Member States, entitled Violence against women: an EU- wide survey, which was carried out in 2012 by the Human Rights Agency. Particular emphasis is placed on the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women (the Istanbul Convention), including a description of its ratification status and insight into some of its provisions which are proving rather...

The work focuses on topics regulated by the Istanbul Convention, which are often criticized in our environment and described as controversial. The aim of this work is to assess whether such criticism is justified and the ratification of the Istanbul Convention may cause some of the consequences the critique is afraid of, or to refute such criticism, based on the evaluation of international practice. The areas examined are the added value of the Istanbul Convention, its ideological neutrality and, finally, its possible implications for migration law. The first section discusses the position of the Istanbul Convention among similar international human right treaties and, in general, the regulation of violence against women and domestic violence in international law. Furthermore, the work deals with the obligations arising from the ratification of the...

Manifests of antifeminism in contemporary teaching of the Roman Catholic Church
Langhammerová, Gabriela ; Kobová, Ĺubica (advisor) ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (referee)
The diploma thesis Antifeminism in Contemporary Teaching of the Roman Catholic Church examines the mechanisms which shape the identity of women in Roman Catholic teachings. This is the starting point for the subsequent constitution of gender order, i.e. the way the relationship between man and woman is constructed, and in which woman is subordinated to man. To support the subordinate position of women, Roman Catholic theology implemented theory of complementarity into its teachings. This inequality provides an important underpinning of gender-based violence. Feminist movement and feminist theology, such as that of Mary Daly brought new analytical tools in the 1960s and 1970s to understand the functioning of the social mechanisms that lead to women's subordination. These tools are, in particular, feminist critique and perspective, critique of power relations and of androcentrism, and a specifically feminist understanding of woman's identity. The Istanbul Convention, with its perspective that rejects inequality, promotes criticism of power relations and describes violence against women as gender-based violence, is conceptually in accordance with the methods and goals of the feminist movement as well as with democratic principles. In particular, it agrees with them on the issue of gender-based...
